our zoo animals

Two words to describe our trip to the zoo this morning:  whiny, and hot.

But, it started out well.  Colin woke up and asked if we could go to the park.  Mike told him we were going to the zoo and he ran screaming into the other room to tell me, "we're going to the zooooooooooo!!!!!!!!"

On our way... 3 going on 13, this guy.

Happy campers, sort of...

20 minutes later and neither one was in the stroller.  Here's me and my buddy, and a baby giraffe.  Look hard.

And my hot, hot, sweaty bundle of a baby.

Hates animals, apparently.

But Colin did have a blast on both the playground and at the splash city. So all was not lost.

Some daddy-daughter time... and that's what it's all about.

rock & roll all day / party every night

This little lady right here?  Is about to roll over from tummy to back for the first* time.

*due to the sheer speed and ease of rolling, I suspect this has been going on at daycare and they haven't told me so I'd think I saw it for the first time myself.  They're good like that.

Here's my little gymnast rolling her way out of tummy time.  Smarty pants.

But wait!  There's more!

Colin took about two months between rolling belly to back and back to belly.  Charlotte took about two minutes.  That's right; she rolled both ways the same day.  Since yesterday, she has been rolling herself all over the place!  Here she is showing off (and enraging herself in the meantime).

Unfortunately, her athletic skills come with a major downside for us.  She's been sleeping about 12 hours a night, waking only once most nights, sometimes twice, and I credit her love of the swaddle for that.  But, now that she can flip on her stomach, we can't swaddle her anymore (or she'll end up on her belly without her arms to push herself up, and her head still isn't strong enough to move around).  This is a major problem. We went from decent nights' sleep to basically having a newborn waking all night.  It's going to be a rough week (or more).  But, that's what caffeine is for?

Good thing she's so cute.

happy mother's day!

I had the best mother's day with my babies!

Me + Mom = Love.  Truth.

Minus the stinker faces, a rare photo with everyone looking in the same direction.

almost holding hands... and I love how she looks at Colin these days.

My day was great.  Mike took the monitors and slept in the other room and handled all the overnight wakeups (two feedings for Charlotte and one "I need a hug" at 5 am from Colin) so I could sleep all night long.  It was amazing... my first full night of sleep since... well, I'd say since Charlotte was born, but given the trainwreck that was the end of my pregnancy, I am sure it has been much longer than that.  I felt like a new person today!  And spending the day with my favorite people was everything I could ask for.

Hope all the moms had a great day too!

    mommy colin time

We hit the library yesterday, then walked across the street for some frozen yogurt.  Colin had the whole store cracking up as we were putting our toppings on as he yelled "I love this place! Its fun! I want sprinkles! I love you mommy! Youre a funny lady! I dont want ketchup on mine! Lets eat outside!"

I had been about to throw away his cup when he grabbed it back to drink the soup, telling me, "thats my favorite part!"

     What a nut.

    weekend in pictures: an update

Life has been crazy as we adapt to everyone going to school and work.  It doesnt help that I came back to full trial mode, with six depositions last week alone. So, we have all been enjoying a weekend of downtime.  Here's what my little crazies have been up to...

I like the playmat as much as my big brother did.  This is my happy place!

I have to wear a bib because I am the spit-up queen. I enjoy targeting mom's suits in the morning.

Mom thinks I look like her baby pictures.

But I also look just like my brother sometimes.

They make me do tummy time.  I HATE IT.

But look how strong I am getting!!

I was trying to watch a Cards game here. Mom was happy.

    My hands fascinate me.

I can fit in the Bumbo now.

Unfortunately so can my freakishly skinny brother.

Speaking of Colin, he moved up to the preschool room at school and is doing great!  Such a big boy... learning phonics and Spanish!  He's mostly excited about the new big boy playground.

I'm doing well at school too.  I get to go on buggy rides every day, which I love... and have conned Colin's old teachers into coming in and holding me.

Our parents sure lucked out with these two smiley babies.

    bathing beauties

Charlotte is so happy anytime she is in the bath!

Not really as happy during the after bath...

I can't even explain what's going on with this one...
