a new era

Colin's whole world turned around today, because we turned his carseat facing forward for the very first time. I really wanted to make it past two keeping him rearfacing, but his head had grown past the top of the seat, so it was safest to go ahead and turn him. He's a big fan of it... he seemed very excited to be able to see us and look around more. I'm hoping it at least makes our next long drive a little easier!

night night game

This is Colin playing his new favorite game. He yells "night night!", rolls (i.e., shoves) you over on your belly, then pounds on your back while laughing hysterically. We're not quite sure where he came up with this, other than when he can't sleep at daycare, they sit and rub his back? Apparently he can tell his parents could use a nap.

2 year appointment

Who is this big kid? Someone who had his two year checkup today. We went a little early since Colin's pedi is moving out of state (we are very very sad, since she's been taking care of Colin since he was born).

Colin is healthy and happy and growing! He weighed in at 25 lbs (10-25%), he's 33.5 inches tall(25-50%), and his head is about 48 cm (25-50%). Despite his current peanut status, Dr. Caldwell projected his adult height at 6 feet! Colin showed off by repeating the last word of every sentence Dr. C said, and pointing out each of the colors of the beads on the wall. Puppy even had his ears checked and his heart listened to, which seemed to reassure Colin that it was ok :)

class pics

colin's class pictures were taken a couple of weeks ago. If you'd like to see them, go to

http://sarahparentphotography.com/clients/

then go to access gallery, then enter the access code: kids2011 and Colin is under the H's.

I'm not even going to say anything about how old he looks in these pictures. Not a word.

Boiler Up!

We spent all morning tailgating at the Purdue game... we all had a great time!

all dressed and ready to go... How old does he look here?!

Mom's firm had a catered tent and Colin ate more than he's ever eaten at one sitting. This is right before he stole a donut off dad's plate.

Purdue Pete stopped by! (Colin was still working on the donut)

Colin seemed intrigued by Pete. At least he wasn't scared!

Colin loved running around with all the other kids. The big kids were even nice enough to throw him the ball a few times. Hard to believe at last year's game he was a baby sitting on my lap.

He even scored a pom pom. Boiler up!

Our tent was set up on the track & field area. Colin knew what to do immediately... he's going to follow in Mike's footsteps and be a track star!

going to have to get a little taller for the hurdles.

We had so much fun.. the tailgate fields feature all of C's favorite things.. buses, dogs, music, the boilermaker train, airplanes... he was in heaven! Seriously considering just taking him down to the tailgate fields on the weekends to entertain him.

morning at the park

we spent the morning up at the neighborhood park. Colin rode the froggy (yelling "Rib! It!")..

and took a few rides down the slide with dad. When Dad laid down, Colin had to do it too.

a glimpse into our friday night...

you know, after we all went out to dinner, ordered Colin his own meal, and he ate only ketchup and saltines...

Anyway. I never should have left Colin alone with Mike all weekend. He's now obsessed with "baseball!" If you just mention the word "Cubs" to him, he starts yelling "baseball!" (sigh). And he asks us to turn on the TV so he can watch baseball every 5 minutes.. which is sort of a problem at, say, 7:30 in the morning. (we've now DVR'd 20 minutes of Baseball Tonight for this purpose.. I have it memorized now). Anyway, here's a clip of Colin asking for baseball.

Then we headed upstairs where we had some fun before bed.

After I took this video, Colin insisted on watching it on the camera with me over and over. He calls himself "Caw Caw" (his friends at school started that) and he will bring me the camera and ask, "more caw caw?" It's so sweet.. then he gets all excited when he sees himself, mommy, daddy, or puppy on the video.

Have a great weekend!

my other little man

You may have heard that I was out of town this weekend.

Don't tell Colin, but I spent it in Kansas City with another short, blonde guy named Jack.

It was so great to snuggle a tiny little one again! Miss you guys already!

Father Son Weekend

Labor day weekend was an extended male-bonding weekend for Colin and Daddy. We had all kinds of fun together while Mommy was out of town. (But make no mistake, Daddy was VERY happy to have her back, this was a looooong weekend!)

Breakfast on Saturday morning started out with waffles, blueberries, and plums....Colin says "yum" to his plum!

More highlights to come!
