he wants to be like mike

I was getting Colin ready yesterday morning, and he was frantically running around looking for "the razors I share with Daddy!"  I figured out what he was looking for (no, there is no blade on the disposable), and he immediately set to work, very seriously lathering his face with "shaving cream" (his hands).  He then informed me, "I have to shave my whiskers, because I didn't do it yesterday."

6 mo appointment

Lady friend had her six month appointment yesterday.  She went to town on that exam table paper.

She's up to 15 lbs 9 oz (just under 50%) and 26 inches long (just over 50%).  Doctor says she's developing perfectly!

weekend random fun

after surviving a two week jury trial, and the weeks of misery leading up to it, I was thrilled to have a long quiet weekend to do nothing but spend time with my little people (and Mike).

We headed off to the farmer's market saturday morning.. I have been missing the market!

we spent lots of time lounging outside enjoying the amazing weather

charlotte decided to rid daddy of his ridiculous hat

my right-hand-man assisted with turning our farmer's market peaches and blueberries into a "cwisp!"

We headed out for nice brunch on sunday, where someone was ecstatic to find that you can eat pie at 11 am if its at brunch.  Colin was excited about it too.

and I got to spend lots and lots of time with my happy little sugar muffins.

4th of july!

Ready to have your mind blown?  Here's colin last year on the fourth, and then this year....  big boy!

He has recently become obsessed with the American flag.  Whenever we see one (which is frequently here in Indiana), he shrieks "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!"  His little mind exploded when he saw I had gotten him a UNITED STATES OF AMERICA shirt.  Mike got him a couple of flags and he spent all weekend taking them everywhere and waving them about.  Patriotic, this one is.

we got in lots of lounging and grilling.  Mike's version of heaven.  Charlotte loved chilling with dad.

We let Colin stay up super late Thursday (this picture was taken well after 9 pm - can't beat Indiana's weird time zone).  He was a BIG fan of sparklers...

and this was his reaction to learning about poppers.

He was not as big of a fan of the big / loud ones.  Since military-grade commercial fireworks are legal in Indiana, our neighborhood sounded like Baghdad on Thursday night.  No one was sleeping anyway, so Mike took Colin down to watch the real firework show over the river.  Reports are that he loved it, except for the finale (or "galaxy" as Colin called it) which freaked him out.

We enjoyed some patriotic dessert.

this is one way to eat shortcake, I guess.

Lafayette doesn't do a 4th of July parade so we took the kids up to Delphi.  Colin's first parade!  Which is lucky, because this parade was seriously LAME.  But Colin didn't know any better and was just ecstatic that there were not only fire trucks, but CANDY being thrown from them.  So he was happy.

Charlotte on the other hand... not so impressed by the parade.

patiently waiting curbside for candy w/ daddy

the best part of the long weekend was all of our family time.  I love my people.

hope everyone had an excellent fourth!

baby in the mirror

Our lady just loves looking at herself in the mirror.  At daycare they set her in front of it and she'll happily sit there smiling and talking to herself forever.  I don't blame her, really...

She's good at finding anything she can see her reflection in.  She also likes to wear her bib as a cape.. she is a little vain I suppose.

 What?

Mike caught these two "sharing" the mirror... adorable :)
