weekend and a walker (almost)

Grandma Pat and Grandpa Ron came up for the weekend and the kids had lots of fun getting some playtime in!

Colin showed them how to play his new favorite game "don't let the balloon touch the ground"

and charlotte showed off her new cell phone...

... as well as her new balance / standing skills

and she led grandpa on a few laps around the house.

Charlotte loves her little walker, and colin is SO excited that she can now "chase" him.  He asks every day, "Does charlotte want to chase me now?" and then they take off in laps around the house... not that he waits for her, he laps her a few times per chase.. .but she thinks it is hilarious.

it's so cute watching them starting to actually play together and I think the "walking" is helping that.

Speaking of walking, right after Grandma and Grandpa left on Sunday, big girl decided to WALK on her own from daddy to mommy!  Just a couple of steps but they were totally on her own!  So proud of her!

1st (real) trip to the dentist!!

I took Colin to the dentist for the first time today!  He had gone and sat on dad's lap once before and let the dentist peek in his mouth, but this was his first solo big boy trip.  He did great!

We go to the most awesome dentist in the world.  Example: when I was in for a cleaning last week, our hygienist Lindsay let me borrow one of their kids' books to read to Colin to get him ready for his appointment today.  I think it really helped him know what to expect.  Of course, some last minute jitters resulted in him donning his monkey suit, which always helps with the nerves.

Cutest monkey at the dentist ever!

He was all about the "special chair" and kept asking for another ride on  it.  He had the whole office cracking up!

The light was a little bright, but no worries.. Supermonkey brought his shades.

Miss Lindsay was SO good with him, explaining everything she was doing and he had a blast while she was "tickling" his teeth.  By far, his favorite was the mouth-sucker (I don't know the name.  The thing that dries your mouth so you don't have to do the lean-and-spit like we did back in the '80s?)  Anyway, he was all about that thing!

The best news of the trip:  No cavities!  As he has been announcing all morning, he has "twenty healthy teeth!"  He even gave Dr. Evans a hug at the end of the visit!  I'm so proud of how well he did, and of his healthy little teeth!!

future olympic diver

Charlotte has started this new game in the bath where she stands at the edge and then drops down into the water.. laughing the whole time.  The bigger the splash, the more she laughs.  It's not the "safest" game in the world so we try to stop her, but she loves it so much, we tried to get a quick video last night (for those cute baby athlete commercials when she's an olympian someday of course).

spaghetti etiquette

I gave the kids some spaghetti last night.  Their table manners were impeccable.

charlotte got so excited she began flinging it behind her.  Do you see why I didn't give them any sauce?

Colin was almost just as enthusiastic.

spring dreaming...

just randomly came across a couple of pics from a few weeks ago when it was warm enough one weekend to play outside.  Colin and I stopped by the playground down by the river and had some fun in the sun.   Can't wait for sunshine, playgrounds, and warm weather to return to our lives.
