summer babies

We had a very summery weekend with lots of fun outside.

at colin's request, we all had a picnic in the back yard.

colin snatched my camera away from me and before I could grab it back, he took a picture.  Not bad for his very first picture, right?!

5 months old!!

I love this girl.

so grown up....

So I told Charlotte she was getting so grown up the other day, and Colin interrupted to tell me that "She is not really a grown up.  She is a baby.  Mommy, you were wrong."

But - she IS getting so grown up!  I can't believe how far we've come from the tiny newborn stage already!

and this weekend we tried oatmeal for the very first time.

Remember what a trainwreck this was with Colin, who wanted nothing to do with it?  Not so much with this girl.  I guess I'm not surprised... we love to eat!!

We have also noticed that on her belly she is starting to scoot her legs trying to crawl, she seems to perk up when she hears her name, and she's trying SO hard to sit up!  I'm not used to these things coming so quickly!  Where did my little baby go??  Now if we could just get her to sleep through the night....

grandparents' weekend

Colin was very excited to spend the weekend with Grandma Pat and Grandpa Ron!

Colin has started going to soccer lessons on Fridays at daycare, and he was thrilled to be able to share his newfound skills with the grandparents.

of course, Charlotte also enjoyed some cuddles from the grandparents (once she decided they were cool; the Lady has some super-early stranger anxiety going on)...

Well, maybe I won't go that far yet... but the Cs are definitely starting to interact more.  Charlotte thinks Colin is the funniest person on earth and loves watching whatever he is doing.  For his part, Colin is starting to figure this out and try to entertain her.

Here's a brief example... watch how happy she gets when Colin talks to her!

They were playing on the playmat together and she was laughing so hard at him... louder than I have ever heard her laugh!

despite all this love, he's still the big brother and can take domain over her stuff at any time.

but the smiliest baby on earth doesn't mind.

besides, he still has plenty of big boy toys to keep him busy.  Charlotte was very intrigued by bubbles.

but nothing beats having dad lift you up in the air
