little gymnast

This morning, Colin was such a crabber.. bored with all his toys, fussing at everything. Our neighbors said they were going to Open Gym hour at a gymnasium here in WL, so we decided to go along.. I wasn't sure how Colin would do. He had been so crabby, and open gym is just a free-for-all where kids go crazy on all the gym equipment. I was afraid he'd be scared or get hurt with the big kids there.

Best decision ever! As it turns out, Colin LOVES the gym. As soon as we got there, he took off exploring. First we jumped on the trampoline. He could barely keep his balance, but he didn't get frustrated - he just stood up over and over and over, even jumping a little! Then he figured out he could crawl around and let the bigger kids' bounces bounce him around.

His hair got a little static-y :)

I was just amazed he wasn't overwhelmed or shy at all.. he was in heaven! He loved watching the bigger kids run around and play. He even got bumped into by a bigger kid (that kid got a side-eye from me) and he just laughed and laughed.

Then we moved to the giant foam pit. This was his favorite. We had to keep pulling him back to the edge so he wouldn't sink.

Colin and Sophie! There was a rope swing that went over the pit for the big kids - Colin was obsessed with watching the kids swing over the pit. He kept pointing and laughing at them. I think he really wanted to try it!

Islands in the foam.. that is what we are. (Sophie preferred the mat - Colin would only sit on it for a second before he dived back in)

C &S with the biggest ball they've ever seen. (most of my pics I didn't upload b/c Colin was just a blur in them!)

Then we climbed on and under some mats.

After open gym was over, we came home and Colin fell fast asleep about 3 minutes after we got home. I think we have a new Saturday morning favorite!

two pic tuesday

This one is for my parents. Because he's my baby picture twin, obviously.

And this was at dinner last night. Why eat all the tasty food in front of you, when you could suck the ketchup out of the paper cups instead? (we couldn't figure out what he was pointing at and when we did, we were like, really? Okay, but you won't like... oh. Never mind.) Where did we find this kid?

play ball

Another dose of baby laughs to brighten your gloomy Monday...

*Yes, we were in fact jamming out to Oh Sherry! in the background. Don't judge.

he gets around...

Mr. C is now a fulltime walker and is completely unstoppable! We put up some more baby gates this weekend to block off the foyer (to keep him from going up the stairs) and the kitchen (to keep him from getting into the fridge). The refrigerator is his most favorite toy, unfortunately.

He loves to "rearrange" our condiments. Yesterday we opened the fridge and found a melted container of ice cream that someone had moved from the freezer to the fridge. Sigh.

I didn't do it!

He even tries to climb the shelves/drawers.

It's so cute watching him walking around the house though. Suddenly he looks so big!

Daddy and Colin's matching after-work outfits (Colin likes to carry his pot around the kitchen).

and, here's a random video to show how well he's getting around now..

random video extravaganza

Mike was out of town this weekend visiting his mom and Ron (feel better soon Ron!! :) so I took lots of videos to send him over the weekend. So, I'll share them here b/c it's easier than thinking of something to write about.

Colin has had a little developmental explosion the past week or so. It's amazing how smart and funny he is. Again, I am so sad my family missed out on all of this when he was sick over Christmas. Thank goodness for the internet and digital cameras! (these aren't the best videos.. I need to remember to turn on all the lights first.. but you get the idea)

Finally got some clapping on camera. Usually he does it after we change his diaper. Ha.

Colin's favorite book is "Bubbles, Bubbles." Perhaps that is why this is his second word?

We have a walker!! This weekend he finally decided to walk more than he crawled. He was all over the house on two feet!

His dancing is hilarious. Usually he won't do it unless there's music (smart boy) but sometimes if you ask him, he'll do a little shakin'.

Finally, this is his favorite game... taking off his socks. He'll pull on them a little and give you this devilish look, like he's daring you to stop him.

happy monday!

christmas and new years 2010

I finally got around to uploading all of our Christmas and New Years' pics. Mike and I were off for ten whole days (felt like way more!) and it was great to spend so much time with the little guy. We spent Christmas in Edwardsville and it was so wonderful to be with my family this year. I also managed to squeeze in visits with all of my friends and was so happy to have time to see everyone. Unfortunately Colin developed a double ear infection right before we left for Edwardsville, so he was not such a happy camper on the trip. I was so sad that he was so fussy and not his usual fun self. But, he still managed to open some gifts:

and pose in his Christmas sweater from Auntie Lynn:

And spend time with his extended family:

colin doing random colin things

As promised.. videos of Colin doing random colin things...

This weekend he got up and suddenly wanted to imitate us coughing. It was hilarious.. until he made the same noise to imitate Daddy burping. I'm kind of glad I didn't get that one on tape.. it was a foreshadowing of my life to come, I think. They're not the best clips (someone is more interested in the camera than performing when it's on) but you get the idea.

Over Christmas, he also got really into waving whenever he hears the word "bye bye." Sometimes he turns and does it in the wrong direction though :)

Whenever he's crawling away or walking w/ one of his toys, if you say "bye bye Colin," he'll pause, look back at you, wave frantically, and then take off. It's also funny how he does it no matter the context. Here we are saying bye to the Christmas tree.

This smart boy has even figured out that his coat means "bye bye," even if you don't say it. When we get his coat out, he gets all excited and starts waving. It's so cute. He definitely has a "let's go" personality!
