our toddler

So, no one else seems as interested as I am in living in denial about Colin becoming a toddler. He and two other babies in his class have started the "transition" to the toddler room. This involves cutting down to one long nap after lunch, and eating finger foods from the toddler menu. I hate it! Mostly because I get a tired and crabby little boy at night, but also because I just want to scream that he's not READY to be a big boy!! (I seem to be having a much harder time with this than he is). Anyway, to help him with the transition we're trying to give him a lot more finger foods for his meals at home too. This is our handsome little hoosier dining in his diaper tonight on a delicious-looking meal of pasta and black beans. I know you're jealous.

You're kidding, right? I'm not eating this.

I beg of you, tell me what you're feeding me!

Stop! No more!

Just kidding.. ha ha. I crack myself up.

such a boy

Today I turned my back for 2 seconds and when I looked at Colin he had pulled the top of the furnace register off. 2 seconds later and he had flipped it over and was using it to scoot around the room. Right past the gaping hole in the floor, of course. He is going to be a troublemaker. I am in serious trouble.

big boy threads

Two more quick pictures to make a certain Aunt happy...

You know you have a kid when you have a bin of toys in the bathroom.

Check out these big boy threads... looking handsome in a polo this Friday morning...

daredevil

Since a certain member of my family has been calling, emailing, and otherwise harassing me about updating the blog.. here's a quick video of the latest trick Mike taught our little daredevil. His new favorite game is rolling/flipping off the couch where Mike catches him. I am not thrilled about this, and once again am not sure whose child this is.. but it cracks him up. I told Mike we might as well pre-pay the hospital for broken bones and stitches. Maybe I can get a discount for being their lawyer? Anyway, enjoy...

Colin also stood on his own for 5-10 seconds yesterday! Won't be long now til he's running all over the place!

thursday two pics

Just a couple pictures to perk up your thursday am...

I just love this picture Mike took while I was in KC this weekend. He looks like a little boy ready to run across the yard. Also, it features my sweet weed garden.

Not a great pic, but this is Colin waving yesterday during dinner. I would wave and yell WAVE! And he would wave and laugh like crazy. Of course, it hasn't happened since. Someone's stubborn. Still haven't figured out where he got that from.

Brrrrrrrrr.

I've been trying forever to catch Colin's motorboat sound on tape... but of course, he will never do it when the camera is on. Here's a rare sample of the cutest sound on earth :)

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Labor day!

zoo crew II

Today we decided to check out the Columbian Park Zoo for the first time. For a city the size of Lafayette, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by our little zoo! I can see Colin having lots of fun there as he gets bigger.

Our favorite part was the Wallaby Walkabout - where they had tons and tons of wallabies, and you just walk right through their habitat. We even saw some baby wallabies peeking out of their mama's pouches! Colin's favorite exhibit, on the other hand, was the petting zoo where he got to grab some baby goats..

And the real highlight of Colin's afternoon was the fountains at the front of the zoo. He was soaked by the time we left.
