On Father's Day, Colin's school had a super cool fundraiser - singing the National Anthem at the Cardinals game!
The day was blazing hot and the stadium was chaos. And then when they marched out the two schools to perform God Bless America, and the Star Spangled Banner, respectively, we (and all the other GCE parents) realized that the other school was wearing matching uniforms. And they had practiced. And they were really really good.
Our little rag tag group, not so much. But! They sang their little hearts out and got to walk across the field ("right in front of the dugouts!" as Colin said) and sing in front of home plate, so that was very cool. Aunt Zoe captured this terrific video :)
Afterwards we all enjoyed (most) of the game. Here is Colin lounging post-performance, as you can see I did not permit him to wear Cubs gear onto my field, but he did spend the game rooting enthusiastically for the Rangers....
Halfway through, he requested we all switch seats so he could talk baseball with Uncle Zach...
The lady was not digging the game, or the heat, and tried to sleep on daddy's arm most of the time.
Sadly, even with the adorable GCE kids cheering them on, the Cards lost.. but made up for it this week in Chicago :)
