Colin v.2.5

Colin is officially two and a half.  There's virtually no trace of that tiny little baby we brought home.  I'm surprised at how sad this is making me.  But it's hard to be sad for long around our big boy.  He is so talkative and funny that he is legitimately one of my favorite people to have a conversation with these days.  Here's what he's up to at 2.5:

- He never stops talking!  I still can't get over his never-ending vocabulary and full sentences - where did this guy come from?  He remembers everything - tell him a word once and it is locked in forever.  He brings up things we said weeks ago.  He's really into reinforcing rules too (not necessarily following them, but making sure you know the rule about everything.)  For example, he cut his finger on the blinds last week.  Now every.single.time we are near those blinds I hear, "Don't touch the blinds! They are not toys! They will hurt you!"  Hmm... perhaps another lawyer in the family?

The only time he still reminds me of a baby.. at bedtime w/ his paci

- Despite his favoring Mike since the day he was born, I have been enjoying a recent period of favoritism towards Mommy.  It makes it a little harder to extricate him from me at daycare in the mornings, but I'm soaking up all the extra love and affection I can get from him right now.  Last night I was complaining to Mike about a hard day, and totally unprompted, Colin reached out to me and said, "I want to give you a kiss Mommy!"  And he did!  Melted my heart!

Dad is still best for giving rides though.

- He's just starting to get interested in the potty.  He understands he gets "big candy" for "making bubbles."  Unfortunately, he likes to sit on the potty while still wearing a diaper.  So... that process is going to need some improvement.

- He still loves anything that moves - trains, trucks, airplanes, tractors, lawnmowers.  He always asks us to go on the "big road" (interstate) and look for "big trucks."  All of his favorite toys are vehicles at the moment.  All of his favorite books are about vehicles.  Such a boy!

- He's still a little OCD about cleaning, and rules, and order.  He will order us to sit in the right places at dinner (or in the car - little chauvenist makes Mike drive if all three of us are going somewhere).  He notices immediately when things are moved, or changed, or done differently.  He isn't a fan of any of those things.  I blame Mike.  Haha.

He loves to dance!  His other favorite song is the Mickey Mouse "Hot Dog" Song.
It must be danced to in front of the fireplace so he can watch himself dancing.

- He is all about "Let me do it!  I do it myself!!"  This means it takes about 40000 times longer to get ready in the morning, but it's cute seeing his independence come out.

- He's just about the happiest person I've ever met (Besides Mike).  The other night I asked him to point to the "happy baby" in his book and he shouted, "That's me!"

Happy half birthday to my happy little boy!
